Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing between Trustana and Orijin Plus

SINGAPORE, 30 October 2023 – In a strategic move set to reshape opportunities for the Australian and Singaporean food and beverage sectors, Trustana Singapore Pte. Ltd. ("Trustana") and Orijin Plus Ltd. ("Orijin Plus") have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership brings together two innovative software platforms with the aim of enhancing product traceability and facilitating efficient product information sharing, ultimately benefiting food producers and distributors.

Seeded by Temasek in 2020, Trustana utilizes AI technologies to help retailers, distributors and brand owners to create and manage high quality product information, providing superior buying experiences for customers and collaboration with trade partners. Trustana’s centralized product data hub allows businesses to collect, store, manage, share, and monetize their product information for better commercial outcomes. In a modern commerce world in which the purchasing and fulfillment processes are becoming more fragmented and complex, having high quality product data enables brands and retailers to stay competitive.

Orijin Plus, on the other hand, integrates IoT and Blockchain technology into the food and beverage industry, redefining product tracking, authentication, and customer engagement. Beyond tracing product origins, Orijin Plus fosters direct interactions between wholesale food brands and consumers at the shelf level.

Orijin Plus emerged from a personal need, founded by brothers Rhys and James Williamson as an internal solution for their own food brand. The motivation was born from a desire to bridge the gap between consumers and the far-flung origins of their food, spanning vast distances and in their case, continents.

Liam O’Connell, Executive Director, Agribusiness, Food & Trade for the Western Australia Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, also present at the signing whilst in Singapore as part of the Singapore International Agri food Week (SIAW), commented, “It is pleasing to see Western Australian agrifood-tech businesses taking their products to the world and capturing opportunities for growth and expansion,” Mr O’Connell said. “SIAW enables us to raise awareness of the capabilities of our State’s agrifood sector and showcase a strong range of Western Australian innovations that can contribute towards global solutions in food security, sustainability and supply chain management.”

The MOU outlines key principles of collaboration, emphasizing mutual respect, open communication, and shared benefits. Areas of collaboration include the integration of seamless information sharing between both platforms resulting in a superior technology solution enabling fully digital product information including end-to-end traceability; as well as potential participation in the Australia Singapore Go Green Co-Innovation Program, cross-border brand introductions, and the exchange of professional connections.
